Description:
3-0-3 Introduction to statistical thinking. Emphasis is on concepts rather than rote calculation. Topics include visual presentation of data, summarizing of data, probability, sampling and simulation. Students will evaluate inferred conclusions of statistical material from a variety of sources and will write reports summarizing and communicating statistical results. This course will be a useful introduction for students who will encounter statistics in science, social science and humanities courses. Students whose curriculum requires ECON 112/114 may not substitute MATH 150. Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in MATH 118 or equivalent placement.
