Description:
Principles and practice of advanced coding using the International Classification of Diseases - 9th Revision - Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM). Students will use software to code and classify diseases and procedures. They will use existing knowledge to select, sequence and code problems and actual health records. Principles and practice using the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding system to code ambulatory care records will also be presented. Students will use the DRG and APG groupers to see how proper coding affects the inpatient reimbursement process.
