Introduces data communications concepts and skills that are the basis of the new information society. Topics include voice and data communications, general communications concepts, network configurations, circuits, network design, protocols, software, microcomputer architecture, on-line services and the internet and network management, control and security. Labs include hands-on activities. Prerequisites: CIS 104 or CIS 105 or departmental approval. Additional course fee: $66.
