Description:
In this intermediate modern dance course, students further develop technical skills in dance. Exercises aim to strengthen muscular endurance, flexibility and cardiorespiratory fitness. Students deepen their comprehension of dance as an expressive art form and practice communicating themes through movement. Compositional tools are studied to facilitate choreography of original works demonstrating thematic development. Listed topics such as flexibility routines, intermediate techniques and use of body weight are explored. Additionally, students analyze a professional dance production. Students advance their physical proficiency in modern dance and comprehension of compositional principles to express ideas and tell stories through movement.
