In this course, students study plays which illustrate the effect of modern psychology on the development of drama in the 20th century. Dramatic realism and naturalism, expressionism, surrealism and absurdism are examined. Students learn about these different movements and how they influenced playwriting. The course provides students with a survey of dominant contemporary trends in theatre over the last century.
