This course explores the impact of popular culture on peoples lives. We will examine culture from a sociological perspective, paying particular attention to cultures ubiquity, impact on peoples identities and social relationships, connection to consumerism and consumption, relationship with politics, dissemination through various forms of media, and potential to challenge or reproduce existing social hierarchies.
