An introduction to the fundamental principles of general chemistry. A course designed for students who require an overview of chemistry with a laboratory component. Fundamental concepts of chemistry will be presented in a format that is understood by non-science majors and will be related to their specific area of study. Emphasis is placed on basic nomenclature, balancing equations, elemental stoichiometry, energy changes, solutions, concentrations, acids, bases, buffers and the gas laws.
